Timetables vary by programme. Many courses include a mix of weekday learning and practical activities. Some practical components may be scheduled outside standard hours depending on industry and seasonal requirements.

Fees vary by programme and intake. Your Course Advisor can provide a current fee schedule for domestic and international learners and explain what’s included.

How can I study fees-free?

You may be eligible for Fees Free depending on your circumstances. Fees Free eligibility and settings can change, so we recommend checking the official Fees Free information and talking with a Course Advisor about your options.

If you’re a New Zealand or Australian citizen or a Permanent Resident, you may be able to apply for a student loan and/or allowance through StudyLink (subject to eligibility). We can guide you through the process.

Fee Protection:

Land Based Training operates under NZQA student fee protection requirements. Student fees are protected in the unlikely event the provider is unable to deliver a student’s tuition.

Course cancellation and refunds

Where student is eligible for a refund (including course cessation/course closure), Land Based Training will endeavour to refund fees to the party that paid them i.e. the Ministry of Social Development (Studylink) or Inland Revenue in the case of student loans, or directly to the Student, or to any other party nominated by the Student.

Withdrawal within the refund period

  • All tuition fees will be refunded minus a deduction of 10% of the fees paid or $500.00 (whichever is the lesser amount) where withdrawal occurs within the refund period.

  • Refund Period starts when the fees are paid and ends 8 calendar days after and including the scheduled start date of the programme.

  • Programme Start Date refers to scheduled first day of the programme, or any other day that Land Based Training permits the student to begin attendance/study.

Withdrawal outside the refund period

  • Where a student wishes to withdraw their enrolment on a programme, they are to notify the campus in writing of their intention to withdraw.

  • Refund period expires on or after 9 calendar days of programme’s start date.

  • There is no refund entitlement where withdrawal occurs after the refund period has expired.

  • Consideration of refund outside of the refund period may be given where there are exceptional circumstances, and where an application for a refund is made by the student within 1 month of the last day attended.

  • There will be no refund where a student has been expelled for breach of regulations, has not filled out an accurate enrolment application and the contract terminated, or, excluding course cessation and/or closure events - wants to transfer to another provider.

Refund and withdrawal conditions are set out in your enrolment agreement. If you need to withdraw, contact your campus as early as possible so we can explain your options and any applicable refund period.

Compulsory student services fee

A compulsory student services fee (CSSF) may apply. This supports services that enhance student wellbeing and campus life, such as careers guidance, counselling support, advocacy, and financial advice. Your campus can confirm the current fee and what services are covered.

What happens if we can’t deliver my tuition?

In rare circumstances, programmes may be postponed or cancelled due to factors such as insufficient demand or resource availability. If this occurs, we will contact affected students and outline available options, which may include alternative dates, transfer options (where available), or refunds in line with policy.

What happens in the first week of the course?

Your first week typically includes induction. You’ll meet your classmates, learn how your programme works, get familiar with health and safety expectations, and complete any initial activities required to support your learning plan.

Where available, campuses may offer activities that help you connect with others and build confidence—such as practical skill sessions, industry talks, community or whānau engagement opportunities, and learner-led events.
